When I started training with Martin I was completely out of shape and very nervous about starting. I hadn’t really worked out in 20 years, so a gym was an unfamiliar and fairly intimidating place. Martin made me feel comfortable immediately. We started out slowly and carefully and I was amazed how fast I improved physically. I lost thirty pounds in three months, gained some muscle and my cardio improved tremendously.

My training and nutrition plans are completely tailored to me and Martin’s constantly monitoring and tweaking things as I progress. Because he’s so focused on form and technique when we work out together I’m able to work out on my own safely, productively and confidently.  Martin’s personality and sense of humour keeps the sessions fun and it really feels like we’re working together as a team. I’ve gone from hating the gym to absolutely craving it. I’m hooked and I’d have to say Martin is a massive reason why. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking to change their life.

I wanted to send you a quick note of thanks. We won our third championship in a row on Tuesday night. After the game the attached photo was taken. 2 years ago Martin I came to you uncertain about my future playing career. I was tired of being hurt. Your discussion of proper technique and form, about building from the core out, and your willingness to work with my physiotherapist spoke to me. You asked what my goals were, and since that first session you’ve focused on creating programs and routines for me that would help me achieve those goals.

As you know, my primary goals were to reduce my chance of injury and to get stronger in ways that would improve my play at hockey. When i set them I didn’t fully believe I could accomplish them – I’ve been injury prone throughout my life, particularly in my core area.

I do feel I’ve made progress – but I still mentally come from a place of fear that I will do something to hurt myself at any given moment – that my body is about to break down.

Having said that, Over the last 4-6 months I’ve noticed things: shirts fitting differently, my weight slightly increasing. I used to think I was just getting fat. That my metabolism finally having caught up to me. And maybe that’s partly true.

But when I looked at this picture, I was struck, really, for the first time, that my body has gone through some transformation with you. It was a whoa moment – a visual confirmation that the strength I feel these days when I’m on the ice isn’t just my imagination.

Thank you Martin for your encouragement, support and coaching. You’re helping me make my goals happen; you’re helping me continue to play and enjoy a game I love at a high level; and you’re helping me feel better about myself every week.

His knowledge, attention to detail and ability to teach the correct technique is second to none. Thank you Martin – for being such a great coach & motivator! From the very first session, Martin has been a font of fitness knowledge, practical nutritional advice and total professional encouragement. Knowing that my time is precious, Martin always tailors each workout session for my maximum fitness benefit. He really knows how to make me work hard yet we still manage to have fun. Unfortunately the hour always flies by way too fast! Following Martin’s suggestion I had a body composition scan before we started working together and after a little less than 3 months of workouts and my latest scan showed very positive results. I lost almost 11 lbs. of fat, gained 4.4 lbs. of lean muscle, and lowered my total body fat by 5.6%. But best of all I increased my bone density which for me is a very welcome but unexpected outcome. After a 5 years of struggle with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome and having no luck with physiotherapy I began a strength training routine with Martin.
